I'm posting stuff outside of the usual work, here. This involves the stuff I'm working towards or even just something completely random. 11/27/18
12/04/18. More shoe work
11/27/18. Shooting my best shot on the PENSOLE Academy x New Balance footwear design camp. Deadline is December 9th and I'm working up as many designs as possible this week to practice and choose the best one for submission. The entire process is really fun and I can definitely see myself being a shoe designer one day. Really hoping this work pays off and I get an opportunity to learn and grow here. Playing soccer my whole life, this makes sense as a genuine transition from soccer career to design career. I think I've spent probably something like 85% of my total income, ever, on soccer cleats. So I'm familiar with the magic of buying a new pair of kicks that's the new thing or has new features to make you a "better player". As a kid I used to post the entire cleat/shoe campaigns from Eurosport mag on my walls, along with my favorite players. Being the one to design all that stuff that was special to me as a kid would be just as amazing now. So I'm getting to work!

First sketch idea. This shoe is a long distance runner with a little feature I made up called a “connection tendon” So when the foot lands and stretches, the tendon responds by providing a flexible/ connective/ spingy feel from heel to toe. I’ve only had a couple cleats in the past that felt like this, and they were by far my favorite. In the end, it’s all about feel and comfort to make you feel your best.
Sketch 2-4
New approach on these. Using some serious hyperbole to make a running shoe that makes you so much faster you practically teleport from start to finish. Crazy. Inspired by an unsurprisingly funny conversation with my friend Wes Eads about the "future" and elements from the video game, Portal 2. And probably, subliminally, a little bit of R&M.
